Journalism students! Search the news sites to find an interesting quotation, spoken from a person with inside knowledge, about a news-worthy event. For example:
“A vast ecosystem is being exposed to contaminants right now, and nobody’s watching it,” Mr. Steiner (a scientist) said. “That seems to me like a catastrophic failure on the part of NOAA.” (the NOAA is the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and the quote was taken from The New York Times on 5/19/10)
So, I think this quotation is important because it's accusing the government department in charge of managing oil spills and coordinating the clean up of not reacting as they should have to the oil spill.
So, students, (1) find an interesting quotation from a news-source, (2) copy it and paste it on this blog, (3) give the name of the news source that you found it from, (4) and write a comment about why this quotation is significant.

An off-duty Chicago police officer back from Iraq, was shot and killed after four people approached him at his parents' home on the South Side and tried to steal his new motorcycle, authorities said. His father, a retired Chicago police sergeant, fired at the robbers, sources said, killing one.

The background of this is the young boy had been bringing a gun to school telling his friends that he was planning to kill the stepfather that has been beating on his mother. When the 13 year came home he was playing with the gun and end up killing his mother thinking it was the stepfather. Now this poor child is facing charges for something he say was an accident.
